About the
Guild
The Artisans Guild, a non-profit
organization, began life in 1996. A group of interested
individuals got together to discuss the organization of an
Eastern Shore Artisans group. The concensus from the start
was to support the arts locally and provide a forum for area
artists to meet professionally and share their knowledge.
Other goals were to provide opportunities to exhibit, show
and market the works of the membership. Open Membership
would be the goal with a juried system for a second level of
membership known as an Exhibiting Member.
The Artisans Guild has been quite busy over
the past 6 years. There have been many opportunities for the
membership in education, support and marketing. With several
exhibiting shows by the Guild, and promotion of other
opportunities for its members, the Guild looks now and to
the future for growth in the arts here on the Eastern Shore
of Virginia.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Artisans Guild, The
Eastern Shore of Virginia, is to encourage interaction among
artisans, further their development, and advance regional
fine arts and craftsmanship, while seeking to further mutual
interest and maintain standards. The Guild fosters social
contact, encourages and promotes the work of its members and
provides marketing opportunities.
