Exploring Furniture Design

Hello, I'm Nancy Gopher. Welcome to my site about furniture design and creation. I am crazy about making my own furniture. The furniture creation process always starts with a vision of the perfect design. I instantly jot the idea down on paper and tuck it into my wallet for later use. Upon returning home, I begin planning the materials and tools needed for the project. The materials range from wood and metal to plastic and fabric. I create my own chairs, tables, footrests, bookcases and bed frames. I will use this site to teach others how furniture products are made by hand. I will also explore all of the different furniture designs available on the market today. I hope that you will be intrigued by this subject and visit my site on a daily basis.

Increase Visibility By Adding Paper Lanterns And LED Light Strips To The Inside Of A Screen Tent

If you will be serving a barbecue dinner inside of a screen tent, add some decorative lighting inside of the enclosure so that you and your guests will be provided with plenty of visibility by completing the project below.

  • paper lanterns
  • craft paint
  • artist's paintbrush
  • newspaper
  • glitter
  • self-adhesive rhinestones
  • battery-operated LED lights
  • twine or thin rope
  • staple gun
  • staples
  • self-adhesive hooks
  • LED flexible light strips
  • sharp scissors
  • measuring tape

Paint, Embellish, And Assemble Paper Lanterns

Place paper lanterns that have not been assembled on a flat surface that has been covered with pieces of newspaper. Use craft paint to add color to each lantern's exterior. Consider adding a specific design that contains colors that will enhance the appearance of the table and chairs that guests will be using during the meal.

Sprinkle glitter onto the wet paint or wait for the paint to dry and adhere self-adhesive rhinestones to the outside of each paper lantern to provide them with a sparkly appearance that will stand out. Open each lantern and install the metal frames that came with your purchase inside of them. Secure a battery-operated LED light that has a clip attached to it to the top of each frame.

Hang Lanterns From The Tent's Ceiling

Measure the length of the table that is inside of the screen tent and cut a piece of twine or thin rope that is a few feet longer. Insert the twine or rope through the top of each lantern. Secure the ends of the rope to the ceiling of the tent with a staple gun.

If you are concerned about damaging the fabric that the screen tent is made out of by inserting staples through it, affix, self-adhesive hooks to the tent's ceiling. Self-adhesive hooks resemble standard hooks but will not be a permanent fixture and can be removed from the tent's ceiling after the barbecue dinner if you wish. Drape one end of the twine or rope across each hook. Form knots in the ends of the twine or rope so that the paper lanterns remain in place.

Secure Light Strips

Decide upon other areas inside of the tent where you would like to add lighting. Measure each area and cut a battery-operated LED light strip that is the same length as each of them. Remove the backing from each light strip and affix the strips firmly against the surfaces that you have selected.

Right before your guests arrive for the barbecue dinner, turn on the LED lights that are secured to the paper lanterns and the light strips. The creative lighting will emit a soft glow that can be enjoyed throughout the dinner.
