Hello, I'm Nancy Gopher. Welcome to my site about furniture design and creation. I am crazy about making my own furniture. The furniture creation process always starts with a vision of the perfect design. I instantly jot the idea down on paper and tuck it into my wallet for later use. Upon returning home, I begin planning the materials and tools needed for the project. The materials range from wood and metal to plastic and fabric. I create my own chairs, tables, footrests, bookcases and bed frames. I will use this site to teach others how furniture products are made by hand. I will also explore all of the different furniture designs available on the market today. I hope that you will be intrigued by this subject and visit my site on a daily basis.
If you have a full, wooden bedroom set, chances are excellent that you spent a great deal of money on the furniture and want it to look great and to last as long as possible. Here are some tips for cleaning your bedroom set so that it continues to look amazing for years to come.
1. Dust It Everyday
Your bedroom furniture is going to be exposed to a higher level of dead skin than most other sets of furniture in your house because you spend a great deal of time in your bedroom and therefore are going to shed a greater amount of dead skin on your bedroom furniture. This dead skin is one of the major components of dust. Dust can make your bedroom furniture look dull and even scratch it if enough pressure is applied to the dust. You can avoid this problem by simply dusting your bedroom furniture every day. Get a long feather duster and use it with one hand while you are brushing your teeth with the other. Get into the habit of cleaning your bedroom furniture each day in order to ensure that you never get a dust buildup that could cause permanent damage to your bedroom furniture. Always be sure to dust in the direction of the grain of the wood. This will allow you to be certain that you maintain the distinctive pattern of your wooden bedroom furniture for many years.
2. Know Your Finish
Finally, once a week do a deeper clean. You are going to need to know your finish in order to be certain that you are cleaning your wooden bedroom set with the correct cleaning solution. If you have unsealed wood, you will need wet down a cloth slightly and then apply a tiny amount of washing up solution. Spread the washing up solution around the cloth so that a thin layer covers the area where the water has been applied. Then, wipe down small areas of your unsealed wood and use a dry cloth to dry them off, working from one small segment to another. This will allow you to ensure that your wooden furniture is totally dry before staining occurs. Don't apply the water directly to the wood.
If you are dealing with varnished wood, damp dust but be certain that you don't add too much water to any one area or else you will start to dissolve the varnish. If you have any spots that aren't coming out, use cleaning solution that has been diluted with water.
